Happy Anniversary!  On January 15th, 2010, I launched Sparkling Events & Designs and who could have imagined how completely amazing this journey would be  and its not close to being over.  Today, I wanted to take a few moments to look back on the year and reflect on how much Sparkling Events & Designs has accomplished this year.  Most of the time I think about what I didn’t accomplished, what I could have done better but my motto for the new year – focus on moving forward.  Yesterday is history….. I’m going to try my very best to NOT do that this year.  I’m sure I won’t always be successful at that but I’m going to try.  It has been a wonderful year and we can’t wait to see what 2012 has in store for us.

I always knew that Sparkling Events & Designs would never just be a hobby for me, it is something that I live and breathe every day.  There is something about having a passion that is almost exploding out of your body.  I can’t wait to get connect with my clients, create something that is one of a kind and special for them.  It’s the fuel to my soul.

2011 was an amazing year.  I started of the year being published in PRINT in the Washington D.C., metropolitan magazine I Am Modern.  Wow!  After contacting the editor of the magazine about adding events and celebrations to the magazine, an area that I thought it was missing and where I could feel a void,  I Am Modern immediately added me as the 1st Events Guru to their website and print magazine.   I spent a lovely 8 months there answers your questions and writing articles before I choose take off the guru hat and focus on some new and exciting opportunities.  So pinching myself about being “published”!

We had a plethora of events and weddings this year, including expansion to Jamaica for another destination wedding, which was fun!  I won’t list all of our events but needless to say, we were very busy and had a chance to create some amazing experiences for our friends and clients – which is most important to me.

I was so excited to contribute to the fabulous Bird’s Party Magazine a beautiful jewel tone holiday day design. Most of you know that I love using vibrant, bright   and untraditional colors in my designs, so I was please when Bird approved our design idea.  It was such a wonderful feeling to be amongst the other amazing contributors and a wonderful accomplishment. Thank you so much Bird for having faith that we could contribute something worthy of being place in your magazine.  So honored!

After talking about this for a while, inspired by the Childrens Party Network East vs West Challenge in 2010, I decided to launch the “Designers Challenge” in June 2011.  The Designers Challenge came from a place where I wanted to show people that wonderful parties CAN be held on a budget.  There is an ongoing phenomenon happening with these “styled shoots”.  I don’t have a problem with “styled shoots” but I do have a problem with how unrealistic that they can be for the average person hosting a party.  The Designers Challenger was created to inspire creativity in all of us,  to challenge us on how to figure out how we can host a fabulous party on a modest budget.  I was so honored when 12 of the most phenomenal designers and party gals that we all love agreed to participate in the challenge.  It was EPIC!   Due to the overwhelming response, I decided to continue the Designers Challenge quarterly as a opportunity for designers old and new to showcase their talents on a budget!  Visit the 1st and 2nd round here and here.  We have a waitlist but everyone is invited to participate!

Finally, this year we focused on building our brand and we did a complete redesign of our website and blog with Savoir Faire Media.  The new design is amazing and completely reflects Sparkling Events & Designs and all of the work that we do, which was so important to me.   It is absolutely beautiful, functional and one of a kind… just like SED!

Here is a quick little collage of some of our work from this year!
